Wolverine Peak (Yellowstone NP) - August 2025

I had a planned trip to the Beartooths and noticed @shredhiker's Meet Up post - it seemed too convenient not to jump on board. Just had to leave my house a day earlier than planned. Having read some of his prior trip reports, I had a feeling it would be a good fit - and fortunately I was right. @shredhiker sent me his campsite information and I determined I'd hike in to 3P5, stay one night, tackle Wolverine Peak, and then hike out to get ready for the Beartooths the next day.

Day 1: Warm Creek TH to 3P5 Upper Pebble Creek Ford [2.14 mi; +1,033'/-282']

Quick hike in and getting to know each other around the fire. Pretty wonderful evening!

Hike up from the trailhead is pretty uneventful - a little steep, but not particularly.

Occasional view out across the northeast entrance road.

And dropped right down into the Pebble Creek drainage.

Day 2: 3P5 Upper Pebble Creek Ford to Warm Creek TH via Wolverine Peak [10.92 mi; +2,923'/-3,682']

I was really looking forward to going up Wolverine Peak. It's fairly notable in its location on the (approximately) furthest northeast corner of Yellowstone, but would also give me a great look at the Beartooths I'd begin traversing w/ @RyanP the next day.

I thought Cutoff Mountain looked pretty impressive all day - even as we moved away from it. Not too far on the other side is Frenchy's Meadow, which I would visit a month later. I bet it would be a pretty fun climb up and over the pass just below.

The early going was very smooth - and the weather was fantastic.

Heading up! I think this is where @shredhiker started missing his trekking pole(s).

I think this is approximately where @shredhiker decided to call it a day. As far as I could tell he was still moving well, but there's nothing I appreciate more in a hiking partner than honesty so I'm glad he spoke up. We discussed options/plans and then I continued up to the summit ridge.
